Half Empty

It is prudent to have a glass half-empty attitude when it comes to being a Phillies fan. This is yet another conflict in my life since I am a naturally half-full type of person. Therefore, after the Phillies pulled off their remarkable four game sweep of the NY Mets, I immediately dampened my euphoria with the thought that if they went down to Florida and lost two of three to the floundering Fish, the Mets wins would be less exciting.
You know what happened. While the Marlins did indeed take two of three, the Atlantic Braves went and got sweep by the Mets.
As I write this on my birthday, the Phils are losing 3-1 to Atlanta. Things are looking very similar at the moment to last year, and the year before and the year before. They are close but can't get over that famous "hump." However, last year on my birthday, Ryan Howard hit two home runs.
Despite the evidence, I live in hope.
