Top 40 Under 40 Party at Borgata's mixx

Atlantic City Weeky and the Greater Atlantic City Jaycees recognized the The Top 40 Under 40 for 2008 on Friday, March 28th at Borgata's mixx nightclub. The evening included an award ceremony where each 2008 honoree received a plaque and proclamations from A.C. Mayor Scott Evans, the Atlantic County Freeholder Board, Senator James Whelan, Senator Jeff Van Drew and Congressman Frank LoBiondo, recognizing each of the Top 40 Under 40 for 2008.
The event was presented by Atlantic City Weekly and the Greater Atlantic Jaycees and was sponsored by Borgata, the mixx nightclub, Allied Beverage and Pink Vodka.

Sondra Usry-Hollingsworth Honored at AC Art Center

Senator James Whelan presents a Proclamation in Memory of Soundra Usry-Hollingsworth to AC Links Vice President Redenia Gilliam-Mosee and President Toni Fultz Fauntleroy and to Soundra’s son, Teddy at the Atlantic City Art Center.
An Atlantic City icon, Soundra Usry-Hollingsworth was known as an entertainer, a TV host, a dancer, a singer, a humanitarian and an activist. Today, she became know as an artist. Much to the surprise of many of us who knew Soundra, she left behind a collection of paintings that had never been displayed. In celebration of African-American History Month, the Atlantic City Chapter of the Links, Inc. and the African-American Heritage Museum of Southern Jersey, Inc. co-sponsored an opening reception at the Atlantic City Art for the original art works of Soundra Usry-Hollingworth. Also on display were the paintings of, Betty Ann Bembry, Anne Glapion and Rosalyn W. Wooding.

Mayor Evans Looks to the future at MBCA event

Mayor Scott Evans gave his first official speech of 2008 to the residential and business community with his State of the City Address to the MBCA, This has been an Atlantic City tradition for over 15 years. The winter luncheon was sponsored by Residential Home Builders "Procida Reality and Construction".

Gary Hill celebrates the big 50 with 350 of his closest friends

Gary Hill turned 50 and his Partner, AC Councilman John Schultz threw him an outrageous birthday party at the Trump Taj Mahal. With over 350 of his closest friends in attendance. It is not every day that Mayor Scott Evans of Atlantic City attends an event along with former Mayor Bob Levy. Levy has a bit part at the closing of a “just for fun” video about Gary. In his cameo appearance, the former mayor says, “I wasn’t missing, I was hiding from Gary because he always wants me to help his many charities. Gary is on a large number of boards and has helped many local civic organizaions. He and John Schultz have formed The Schultz-Hill Foundation and the very active local community organization, The MBCA.

Masterpiece Advertising continued their infamous reputation for exclusive holiday extravaganza again this year with The Count of Masterpiece Masquerade party. The count and countesses of Masterpiece Advertising Design indulged their guests on with an evening of elegance, excitement and entertainment at Girasole Restaurant.
The theme of Masquerade Magnificence filled the atmosphere with all the grandeur and mystery of a Masterpiece holiday soiree. In typical Masterpiece fashion, the party guest list was complete with celebrities, politicians, sports figures and musicians.

Tropicana 25' Tree Lighting Kick's Off Holiday Season

Tropicana.JPG Tropicana’s 25’ Holiday Tree, located in Fiesta Plaza at The Quarter, officially become illuminated Thursday, November 15th with the help of Santa Claus and Diane Spiers, Executive Director of Media Services and performers from the Tropicana’s Holiday Extravaganza musical.
Tropicana has teamed up with the Salvation Army which offers an array of varied programs and services for children and adults such as after school programs, clothing and furniture assistance, emergency shelter provisions and toys and clothing for children during the holidays.

Olympic Gold Medalist Peggy Flemming at Women in Wine Event

Peggy Flemming and husband Greg Jenkins of Flemming Jenkins Vineyards & Winery in Los Gatos, Ca.JPG Olympic Gold Medalist skater Peggy Fleming — herself a breast cancer survivor — and her husband Greg Jenkins showcased their wines at Borgata's Women in Wine Charity Event. They operate Flemming Jenkins Vineyards & Winery in Los Gatos, California.
Also participating was actress Lorraine Bracco, known for her roles as Dr. Jennifer Melfi on The Sopranos and Karen Hill in the Martin Scorsese film Goodfellas, showcased her company’s wines. Actress Fran Drescher, author of the new book Cancer, Schmancer also made an appearance.
Twenty-two additional female winemakers from California, Australia, Chile and Italy, plus nine chefs from Borgata’s celebrity restaurant lineup, showed off their products and foods. Borgata wine director Anjoleena Griffin-Holst also hosted.
Last year, the Borgata Heart and Soul Foundation raised $101,000 from the event. They hope that they raised even more money this year.

Women in Wine Charity Event a Success at Borgata

Wine and food lovers filled the Borgata Event Center for their third Women in Wine event Saturday night.
Robin Leach and talk show hostess Ricki Lake hosted the charity event. The evening was sponsored by Wine Spectator magazine and was presented by the Borgata Heart and Soul Foundation. Proceeds from ticket sales and live and silent auctions will benefit Living Beyond Breast Cancer and the Atlantic County Women’s Center. These organizations focus on the health, safety and well-being of women in Atlantic County and nationwide.
